SEATTLE: Sunday, September 8th

This is the second time hosting the Mine Your Own event to benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs. Last time the event was Sold Out by early afternoon. We will be gauging interest in the event by the number of people who post a comment with the location they want to attend on our event page. The day of the event, a $10 donation earns you a bag of gravel to sort and explore. Since this is a one-of-a-kind event with limited amounts of gravel that we have sourced directly from Montana, it is first-come-first-served.

Here’s what you need to know:

LOCATION

This event will run from 12 pm to 4 pm just outside Green Lake Jewelry Works’ Bellevue and Seattle Studios.

SEATTLE

PARKING

In Bellevue, there is free 3-hour underground parking accessible from Bellevue Way Southbound or from Main Street Eastbound; just be sure to park in spots that are clearly labeled ‘for retail customers only.’

In Seattle, there will be free 2-hour parking to the North of the studio. The parking spaces along the front near Northgate Way will be filled with event activities. There is additional street parking in the surrounding neighborhood.

HOW IT WORKS

  • When you arrive at Green Lake Jewelry, come inside to make your donation to the Boys and Girls clubs in exchange for a ticket. We will be ready to accept card and cash donations only on the day of the event for that location.
  • If you don’t want to wait, you are welcome to take your bag of gravel with you to sort at home.
  • Outside our shop, once you have redeemed your bag of gravel with your ticket, have it washed and screened and then pour it into a glass pan for viewing.
  • Under the mining canopy, place your pan atop specialized lightboxes for easy viewing and partner with a buddy to find any translucent crystals; this gravel is rich in both garnet and sapphire.
  • Dispose of unused gravel into our return barrel. If you find any gems, bag them up and label their contents alongside Green Lake’s gemologists and gem cutters.
  • Come inside the Green Lake Jewelry Works Studios to learn about gemstone cutting and fine jewelry making.
  • Most of all, have fun!

MATERIAL

We are offering especially concentrated gravel, extracted from the small-scale Montana Mines utilizing sustainable methods in accord with Montana’s strict environmental guidelines.

WEATHER

We will have water and juice on sale to benefit the Boys and Girls to help hydrate and partial coverage from a tent should the weather heat up! Should it drizzle, that won’t stop us Pacific Northwesterners from doing cool stuff, but you might want to pack an umbrella just in case!
